While earning her degree, Kimberly served as collegiate accompanist and performed regularly at (the late) Dr. Jerry Falwell’s church. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in education and has served as both classroom teacher and administrator. Before starting her own piano studio, Ms. (Biller) Scopano was Director of Education for Sylvan Learning Systems.
Ms. Scopano maintains an active piano studio in York, PA and has been teaching for the past 20+ years. You will find her students performing at nursing homes, in jazz bands, praise and worship teams, and recital halls. Her students also compete locally and regionally at state festivals for performance and composition. Pupils have earned the highest of achievements in both performance and theory at Pennsylvania State Music Adjudications and have placed and won York Symphony Orchestra’s Composition Competitions and Keystone Composition Competitions. Students have all passed with Honors to First Class Honors with Distinction at the Royal Conservatory Music Development Program,
Ms. Scopano stays up on the most current and creative pedagogy by attending state and national conferences, participating in webinars, listening to podcasts, reading blogs, and through her own personal study and research. She believes students learn best through experiential learning which includes games and activities. She holds that students enjoy their lessons more and will stick with lessons longer when they have opportunities to learn and make music with their peers which is why she incorporates many group activities and ensemble playing opportunities for her students and have had many students study with her for 10+ years.
She welcomes students who are striving for and committed to excellence. Currently, she offers both private and group piano lessons for students, ages 5-adult. She also teaches a comprehensive music class for children, ages 4-6; which includes singing, story-telling, dance/movement, rhythm instruments, and listening skills.
She’s a member of the Music Teacher’s National Association, Pennsylvania Music Teacher’s Association, Top Music Pro, Matinee Music Club, Carnegie Hall Royal Conservatory Achievement Program, and York Music Teacher’s Association.
